• Khalima (Richmond, VA)
Khalima is a Richmond, Virginia based performer, instructor, visionary, and artistic personality. She brings together her background in music, art, and a lifelong passion for writing, metaphor, and things that shine into emotional, musical, and narrative renderings of bellydance. Khalima has been lovingly described as poetry in motion and as being the music.
As an extension of her work, Khalima produces events throughout Richmond, including Raqs Luminaire, an annual Theatrical Fusion bellydance stage show, exploring themes of light and dark through dance and story, in a literal and metaphorical sense. She is also the owner of Illumination Dance Studio, Richmond’s only studio dedicated to Middle Eastern Dance in all it’s incarnations, continues her dance training with Suhaila Salimpour and others , and is currently working on her Level 2 certification. Claire Metz Fenner has a dance style that is sassy, fun, and a wee bit funky. She has performed across the country at such events as Bonnaroo, TribalCon, TribalCafe, and Elevation Dance festival, both as a soloist and with several notable troupes like Shadhavar, Gypsyville Belly Dance and Biz’Cirque circus theater.

• Troupe Hip’Notic (Southern, MD)
Troupe ‘Hip’notic is known for their charismatic, sassy, and humor-filled performances, Troupe ‘Hip’notic has been performing their eclectic belly dance fusion throughout Maryland and DC since their formation in 2004. They settled upon the term ‘eclectic’ since it describes both the dancers’ personalities and their dance style perfectly.
Troupe ‘Hip’notic is a collective of women who respectfully borrow from traditional music and belly dance, while incorporating contemporary music and dance styles into their performances; as a result, their dance style is organic and constantly evolving. www.troupehipnotic.com
